First visit

What happens at your first appointment, what to bring, and help if you are nervous.

What happens

  1. 01

    Welcome and history

We ask about your health, medicines and any worries. You tell us what brought you in.

  2. 02

    Examination

We check teeth, gums and bite, and take X-rays only if we need them. We explain what we see as we go.

  3. 03

    Your plan, in writing

Priorities, options and prices on one page, with no pressure to decide on the day.

  4. 04

    Treat now or book

Small things can be treated the same visit. Larger work is booked, with a payment plan if you want one.

What to bring

  • A list of any medicines you take, and any allergies
  • Your previous dental records or X-rays, if you have them
  • Questions and worries — write them down if that helps
  • Someone to come with you, if it would make you feel easier

If you are nervous

  1. 01

    Say so at the start

It changes how we work: slower, with more explanation.

  2. 02

    Agree a stop signal

Raise a hand and we stop straight away.

  3. 03

    Book a longer first visit

Time to talk and look around, with no treatment if you would rather not.
