Our work

Education, health, livelihoods, water and energy in Morogoro region, each with a unit cost printed beside it.

Education

Children learn when they are fed.

School meals, supplies and fee bursaries for girls in twelve village schools.

A hungry child cannot learn. We fund a daily meal, exercise books and pencils, and bursaries that keep girls in school past primary. Sample programme: replace this text with your own.

TZS 65,000 pays for a term of school meals for one child.

Health

Care close to home.

Training, supplies and supervision for community health volunteers.

Volunteers check blood pressure, weigh babies, give advice and refer people who need a clinic. Sample programme: replace this text with your own.

Livelihoods

Farms that pay their way.

Seeds, tools and training for farming families, and support for market traders.

Families who can sell a surplus can pay school fees themselves. We fund seed, tools, training and a savings group, and we stay for three seasons. Sample programme: replace this text with your own.

TZS 390,000 pays for seeds, tools and training for one farming family.

Water

A pump that keeps working.

Repair and maintenance of village hand pumps, with a local mechanic on retainer.

A pump that breaks and is not fixed is worse than no pump. We train a caretaker in every village and stock spare parts. Sample programme: replace this text with your own.

TZS 65,000 pays for a year of maintenance for one hand pump.

Energy

Light after dark.

Solar lighting for village paths, clinics and classrooms.

Light lets a clinic open at night and a child study after dark. We install and maintain solar lights and train a village technician. Sample programme: replace this text with your own.

TZS 390,000 pays for one solar light with a year of maintenance.
