Caring for the land

Healthy soil grows healthy food.

We rotate crops, compost on site and keep hedgerows and wild margins along every field. It is slower than the shortcut, and the reason our produce tastes the way it does.

  • Crop rotation and cover crops every season
  • On-farm composting, no routine pesticides
  • Water-wise irrigation and wild field margins

The farming year

What’s growing when.

Three seasons, three kinds of work — and something fresh at the farm gate all year.

01

Spring — sow and plant

Seedlings go into the beds, potatoes and peas go in the ground and the first salads reach the stall.

02

Summer — grow and pick

Tomatoes, beans, courgettes and berries ripen daily, picked in the cool of the morning.

03

Autumn — harvest and store

Grain comes in, pumpkins and roots are lifted and the fields are sown with cover crops.

You can taste the difference the first week. The vegetables last longer and the kids actually ask for the carrots.
